PMD Brakes

The Witton Kramer PMD range of brakes has been designed to meet the dimensional requirements laid down by DIN 15435. This standard was set primarily for thrustor-operated brakes at a time when these were the only alternative to a.c. electromagnetic brakes.

The introduction of reliable silicone diode rectifiers made possible the development of self-contained d.c. brakes equally suitable for d.c. shunt or series windings and a.c. supply, giving the advantage of smaller unit sizes at a much lower cost, and eliminating the maintenance associated with thrustors.

Torques can be varied by adjusting the spring length if required.
